For many of our wonderful fur babies, there's nothing sweeter than a yummy peanut butter treat. But you may start to notice these treats slowly disappearing from the store shelves. Although some people believe that only human crackers and cookies that had peanut butter in the middle were tainted, it could be more wide-spread than we originally thought.
On the FDA's website, there's a press release from the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA). As you scroll down the page, you'll notice a very interesting item near the bottom of the list... Pet Food Paste and Feed Grade Peanut Butter!
PetSmart has already recalled seven of its Grreat Choice Dog Biscuit products today as a precaution against possible salmonella contamination. This contamination is still under investigation, and it may be in your pup's best interest to take a break from peanut butter until this whole thing blows over and every contaminated product has been reveled. Unless you know exactly where the peanut butter has come from and that it is safe, it's just not worth it.
Please note that this scare even goes as far back to affect products manufactured on or after July 1, 2008. So you may already have products in your home that are tainted. Please contact the store you purchased them from if you are unsure of it's origin or if it's included in the recall.
Be safe!
